Initially scheduled from May 16 to June 16, 2024, the 15th edition of the Dak'art Biennale of Contemporary African Art has been postponed. The event will now take place from November 7 to December 7, 2024, as announced by the Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Culture.

"The postponement, beyond the constraints and uncertainties induced by the national and international context, is due to the desire of the new authorities in charge of the sector to organize the Biennale under optimal conditions, commensurate with its stature and its reputation as a historic meeting point for art lovers from around the world," the ministry explained in a statement relayed by the local press.

Under the theme "The Wake, the Awakening, the Trail," Dak'art has been established by the State of Senegal since 1989. Its goal is to promote the modern cultural heritage of Africa.

Visitors will discover the works of 58 artists from Africa and the diaspora, including Sara Al Tantawy, Arébénor Bassene, Sokari Douglas Camp, Mohamed Diop, Sika Da Silveira, Sènami Donoumassou, Thonton Kabeya, Pascal Konan, and Madeleine Wilfried Mbida.
