The Chadian Prime Minister, Succès Masra, is contesting the results of the presidential election in which he came second, behind the transitional president, Mahamat Idriss Déby.

The leader of the Transformateurs party announced that he has filed a request for the annulment of the election with the Constitutional Council.

“With the help of lawyers, we have today filed a request with the Constitutional Council to uncover the truth,” he announced on Facebook.

“Our request, which calls for the straightforward annulment of this electoral farce,” said AFP Sitack Yombactina, vice-president of the Transformateurs, the party of Masra.

Succès Masra obtained 18.53% of the votes compared to 61.03% for the transitional president Mahamat Mahamat Idriss Déby Into, whom he had appointed Prime Minister four months before the election.

The final results are expected no later than May 23 after the examination of Masra’s complaint.
