The government of the Republic of Congo officially launched on Monday the process of drafting its 2027-2031 National Development Plan (NDP), with support from several technical and financial partners, including United Nations agencies, according to a statement issued Tuesday by the Ministry of Economy, Planning, Statistics and Foresight.
The new five-year plan will mark an important step in the country’s development strategy. It will serve as the first implementation framework for Vision Congo 2063, a long-term development strategy currently under consultation between Congolese authorities and their partners.
The future NDP will focus on five key priorities: human capital development; economic diversification and productive transformation; reducing social and territorial inequalities; advancing the energy, digital and ecological transitions; and strengthening governance and institutional effectiveness.
"The architecture of the 2027-2031 NDP builds on the Republic of Congo’s international, regional and sub-regional commitments and constitutes the first five-year framework for implementing Vision Congo 2063,” said Minister Ludovic Ngatsé.
The plan is also expected to incorporate a range of reforms and strategic projects aimed at accelerating the diversification of the Congolese economy and laying the foundations for more sustainable growth.
According to Abdourahamane Diallo, the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Congo, the new framework should help improve coordination of national efforts to drive economic transformation, strengthen the country’s resilience and improve living conditions.
Through the 2027-2031 NDP, Congolese authorities aim to translate the ambitions of Vision Congo 2063 into concrete action, with economic transformation, human development and more effective public policy at the heart of the country’s priorities for the coming years.
