It is now official for Alidu Seidu. The Ghanaian international defender will leave Stade Rennais to join OGC Nice on loan without an option to buy. The two clubs reached an agreement after talks that allowed the deal to be finalized quickly, according to information from Sacha Tavolieri.

Alidu Seidu joined Rennes in January 2024 from Clermont Foot and gradually established himself in the Brittany-based squad thanks to his versatility and defensive qualities. Capable of playing both at center-back and right-back, the 26-year-old will now continue his season in Nice colors.

A Versatile Addition to Nice’s Defense

At Nice, Seidu is expected to provide an additional option in defense. His athletic profile and ability to play in several positions are assets for the Côte d’Azur side, which will also be able to rely on his Ligue 1 experience.

Before officially joining his new club, however, the defender must undergo the traditional medical examination. If the results are satisfactory, his loan can be officially finalized and the player can join the Nice squad.

The agreement reached between Rennes and Nice does not include an option to buy. Unless a new agreement is reached between the two clubs, Alidu Seidu is therefore expected to return to Brittany at the end of the season.

Under contract with Stade Rennais until June 2029, the Ghanaian international is currently valued at around €6 million by Transfermarkt.

This new step should allow Seidu to get more playing time and continue his development in a new Ligue 1 environment.
