The measure, taken by the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Decentralization, accuses the parties of “failing to meet their obligations.” According to the official statement, the decision also includes the withdrawal of their control over their resources and assets.
General Mamadou Doumbouya was elected at the end of December for a seven-year term, in a vote in which major opposition leaders were unable to participate. Several critics argued that the election had been organized in favor of the ruling authorities.
Among the dissolved parties are the Union of Democratic Forces of Guinea (UFDG), led by Cellou Dalein Diallo and suspended since August 2025, the Rally of the Guinean People (RPG), the party of former president Alpha Condé, suspended in March 2025, and the Union of Republican Forces (UFR) of opposition leader Sidya Touré. All three leaders are currently living in exile.
The decree states that the dissolution results in the immediate loss of legal status and legal personality for the affected parties. It also prohibits them from carrying out any political activity and from using their names, acronyms, logos, emblems, or other distinctive symbols.
The headquarters and regional offices of the parties will be sealed, while their assets have been placed under sequestration. A court-appointed administrator has been designated to supervise the transfer of these assets, although the decree does not clearly specify the final destination of these resources.
