The presidents of the Foreign Affairs Committees of African parliaments are gathered in Rabat for the second edition of their Forum. On the agenda is an in-depth discussion on the "sustainable foundations for stability and security in Africa."
The opening session of the 2025 Forum of the Presidents of the Foreign Affairs Committees of African Parliaments, held in Rabat, is attended by representatives from around forty African countries. The session was marked by speeches from the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi Alami, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Residing Abroad, Nasser Bourita, and the President of the Foreign Affairs, National Defense, Islamic Affairs, Migration, and Moroccans Residing Abroad Committee, Salma Benaziz.
Organized by the House of Representatives at its headquarters, this edition is part of the ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation and coordination among African parliaments to address the continent’s challenges. It reflects Morocco’s commitment, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, to fostering cooperation and solidarity across Africa.
The Forum serves as an opportunity for participants to enhance coordination, dialogue, and consultation among the Foreign Affairs Committees of African parliaments on peace and security issues through two key themes.
The first theme focuses on "Mediation and Coexistence: Building a Conflict-Resilient Africa. The second theme explores "Economic Integration and Development Corridors: A Response to Africa’s Peace Challenges."
It is worth recalling that the first meeting of the Presidents of the Foreign Affairs Committees of African Parliaments was held in July 2023 under the theme: "African Parliamentary Cooperation in the Context of Current Challenges." The meeting concluded with a Final Declaration, in which participants emphasized the unity and integration of the African continent, their commitment to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of African states, and the promotion of African parliamentary cooperation to foster sustainable development and address global challenges.
