The agenda of the 162nd session of the Arab League Council at the Foreign Ministers' level includes various political, economic, and social topics, as well as the development of current Arab and international issues, particularly regarding Palestine.

The proceedings of the 162nd session of the Arab League Council at the Foreign Ministers' level began on Tuesday, September 10, at the League’s headquarters in Cairo, with the participation of Morocco. The Moroccan delegation, led by Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Residing Abroad, includes Mohamed Ait Ouali, Morocco's Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Abdelali El Jahid, head of the Arab and Islamic Organizations Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Residing Abroad, and Hicham Ould Essallay, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Kingdom to the Arab League.

HM King Mohammed VI's Actions in Support of Al-Quds Highly Praised

Shortly before the opening of the session, Nasser Bourita participated in the meeting of the body overseeing the implementation of decisions and commitments at the ministerial level and the meeting of the Arab ministerial committee responsible for international action against illegal Israeli policies and measures in occupied Al-Quds. This committee praised the continuous efforts of HM King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, in defending Al-Quds Acharif and highlighted the projects carried out by the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency, the executive arm of the Committee, under the supervision of the Sovereign, to support the stability of the Maqdessis and bolster their resilience.

In its resolution concerning "Israeli Developments and Violations in the City of Occupied Al-Quds," the committee endorsed the role of the Al-Quds Committee, chaired by HM King Mohammed VI, and the efforts made by the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency.

Furthermore, the Secretary-General of the Arab League highlighted in his report to the 162nd session the efforts of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency, chaired by HM King Mohammed VI, in supporting the resilience of the City of Al-Quds and the Maqdessis, as well as the Palestinian cause. This includes the dispatch, on the High Instructions of the Sovereign on June 24, 2024, of 40 tons of humanitarian aid consisting of essential foodstuffs, emergency medical supplies, and blankets, with a significant portion personally funded by His Majesty, particularly aid for infants and young children.

Towards a New Dynamic between Morocco and Egypt

On the sidelines of his participation in the opening of the 162nd session of the Arab League Council, Nasser Bourita held in-depth bilateral discussions with the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptians Abroad, Badr Abdel Ati.

The two ministers reviewed ways to strengthen bilateral relations, in accordance with the directives of HM King Mohammed VI and the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi. Their discussions were in line with the strong bonds of fraternity between the leaders and peoples of the two brotherly countries, their mutual solidarity, shared destiny, and common goals.

They also agreed to enhance coordination and consultations between their respective Ministries of Foreign Affairs, through the organization, as soon as possible, of the fourth session of the Mechanism for Dialogue, Coordination, and Political and Strategic Consultation, as well as to increase the exchange of visits between officials from both countries to inject new momentum into the cooperation between Morocco and Egypt.

During the meeting, the two ministers exchanged views on various matters of common interest on the Arab, continental, and international scenes.
