During a Cabinet meeting, Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye instructed the Prime Minister to work on drafting a law on economic sovereignty. The aim is to better protect companies in strategic sectors and give the government more oversight on changes that may occur in capital structures.

Additionally, Bassirou Diomaye Faye urged the government to continue consultations with all involved economic stakeholders, particularly millers and shopkeepers, to ensure the rigorous application of approved product prices across the country.

The President highlighted to the Prime Minister the need to accelerate the local transformation of agricultural products through industrialization, the promotion of local consumption, and the modernization of local commerce with reference shops and stores. This also involves implementing a coherent policy to control the prices of essential consumer products, with the short-term option of using tenders for the country's supply of essential food products and hydrocarbons.

For Bassirou Diomaye Faye, Senegal's food sovereignty relies on the revival of the national industry, which remains a priority of government action.
