Moroccan international Brahim Diaz, one of the most decisive players this season with Real Madrid, is a strong candidate to win the African Ballon d'Or, highlighted the Spanish sports newspaper "Marca" on Wednesday.

Winner of the Champions League with the Whites last Saturday, Brahim Diaz "has a serious chance of becoming the first Real Madrid player to win the Ballon d'Or awarded by the Confederation of African Football (CAF)," wrote the specialized daily.

"The award will be presented at the end of the year, and Brahim has the arguments of the treble with Real Madrid (Spanish Super Cup, La Liga, and Champions League) and his debut with the Moroccan national team," noted the publication, recalling that the former Manchester City player will indeed make his official debut with the Atlas Lions on Friday in a World Cup 2026 qualifying match against Zambia.

Brahim Diaz played 45 matches for Real Madrid this season, with 12 goals and 9 assists, highlighted "Marca," noting that the 24-year-old forward's great challenge is to qualify with Morocco for the 2026 World Cup and to win the next Africa Cup of Nations, which will be held in Morocco.

After a remarkable season with three titles, Brahim Diaz has enough arguments to be in the running for a "historic" African Ballon d'Or, concluded the Spanish newspaper.
