Malian international Maïmouna Haïdara is joining the Spanish club Ensino Lugo for the upcoming season of the Liga Femenina Endesa.
Known for her versatility and energy on the court, the player will bring her experience and talent to the team, strengthening its ambitions for the 2025/2026 season.
This signing marks a new chapter in Haïdara’s career, as she continues to establish herself as a rising star in women’s basketball.
Ensino Lugo, excited about her arrival, is counting on her to energize the squad and aim for the top of the Spanish championship.
Maïmouna made a name for herself at a young age with the Malian national team. At just 15, she caught international attention during the 2019 FIBA U19 Women’s World Cup, where she delivered a historic triple-double—19 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 steals—against Chinese Taipei. That game led Mali to a memorable victory and qualification for the semi-finals, an unprecedented achievement for an African team.
She also stood out during the 2022 AfroBasket U18, where she was named MVP of the tournament after averaging an impressive 23.8 points and 12.8 rebounds per game.
In addition to her outstanding performances in competition, Maïmouna Haïdara has earned several individual honors, including MVP of the 2022 African U18 Women’s Basketball Championship.
At only 20 years old, she represents the future of Malian and African women’s basketball, combining talent, leadership, and determination.
