Morocco-Commonwealth of Dominica. Towards Next-Generation Cooperation

The Kingdom of Morocco and the Commonwealth of Dominica expressed, on Monday, April 21 in Rabat, their full commitment to strengthen, invigorate, and expand the scope of their cooperation, sharing their intention to conclude a new-generation cooperation roadmap for the years 2025-2027 for the next three years.

In a joint statement issued at the end of the talks between the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Residing Abroad, Nasser Bourita, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Affairs, Trade, and Energy of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Vince Henderson, both parties expressed their desire to further deepen and consolidate bilateral cooperation through the exchange of experiences and expertise in various areas of mutual interest.

Bourita and Henderson praised the current level of relations between the two countries, as well as the cooperative actions undertaken as part of the 2022-2024 cooperation roadmap.

According to the joint statement, the two ministers discussed issues related to the prospects of bilateral cooperation to meet the aspirations and ambitions of the two friendly countries.

In this regard, they welcomed this opportunity to further strengthen the long-standing relations between the two countries for the benefit of both governments and peoples.

Moreover, Henderson expressed "great appreciation" of the Commonwealth of Dominica for the vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI for South-South cooperation based on efficiency, solidarity, and pragmatism, highlighting that the Royal Vision contributes to stability and security in the Caribbean region through concrete socio-economic projects.

South-South Cooperation: The Royal Vision Highly Praised

Vince Henderson highly praised the vision of HM King Mohammed VI for promoting South-South cooperation.

"I wish to express the great appreciation of the Commonwealth of Dominica for the vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI in favor of South-South cooperation based on efficiency, solidarity, and pragmatism," emphasized the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Affairs, Trade, and Energy of the Commonwealth of Dominica, in a statement to the press following his discussions with Nasser Bourita.

He also noted that the Commonwealth of Dominica has greatly benefited from its cooperation with the Kingdom of Morocco in this regard.

"Over the years, and thanks to the strengthening of diplomatic relations between the two countries, we have benefited from the development of human resources, scholarships for Dominican students in Morocco, and technical assistance in agriculture, among other things," he explained.

Discussing the Moroccan Sahara issue, Henderson reaffirmed the constant support of the Commonwealth of Dominica for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Kingdom of Morocco over its entire territory, including the Moroccan Sahara, while reiterating his country's support for the autonomy initiative presented by the Kingdom in 2007.
