Somalia’s economy recorded growth of 3.1% in 2025, according to a Ministry of Finance report recently presented to the Council of Ministers.

The report reviews the country’s economic performance in 2025, highlighting key developments in the national economy as well as reforms undertaken in the management of public finances.

According to the authorities, this growth reflects efforts to strengthen public finances, improve domestic revenue mobilization, and enhance the management of public resources. The government aims to consolidate the foundations of the Somali economy and create the conditions for more sustainable growth.

During the presentation of the report, Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre said the country was experiencing a significant economic recovery. He expressed optimism about Somalia’s ability to maintain this momentum and eventually achieve greater economic self-sufficiency.

The Somali government also aims to gradually reduce the country’s dependence on foreign aid by strengthening public finances and continuing economic reforms.

The 3.1% growth recorded in 2025 therefore represents an encouraging sign for the authorities as they seek to put the country on a path toward financial stability and sustainable economic development.
