Angolan President João Lourenço received Moroccan Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch on Sunday in Luanda, on the sidelines of the Extraordinary Summit of the African Union (AU) Heads of State and Government, held in the Angolan capital.

During the meeting, Aziz Akhannouch conveyed to the Angolan President the fraternal greetings of King Mohammed VI, along with the Sovereign’s wishes for good health and success in the discharge of his duties. The Moroccan King also expressed his wishes for continued progress and prosperity for the Angolan people.

The Moroccan Head of Government also congratulated Angola on the organization of the Extraordinary AU Summit. He stressed Morocco’s commitment to continuing and further strengthening cooperation and partnership between Rabat and Luanda.

The meeting comes amid a shared determination by both countries to consolidate their relations and explore new prospects for cooperation in several areas of mutual interest.

In return, the Angolan President asked Aziz Akhannouch to convey his warm greetings to King Mohammed VI.

João Lourenço also extended his wishes for good health and happiness to the Moroccan Sovereign, as well as his hopes for further progress and prosperity for the Moroccan people.

The meeting thus reflects Rabat and Luanda’s commitment to maintaining close political dialogue and giving fresh impetus to their bilateral partnership within the broader framework of African cooperation.
