The Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the British television network Channel 4 have reached an agreement to broadcast all matches of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) free of charge in the United Kingdom. The agreement, described as historic, makes Channel 4 the exclusive broadcaster of the tournament in Great Britain. It is the first time the competition will be available for free to viewers across the UK.
Under the deal between CAF and Channel 4, every match will be aired live across the network’s platforms, including Channel 4, E4, 4Seven, Streaming, and the Channel 4 Sport YouTube channel.
Quoted by British media, CAF Secretary General Véron Mosengo-Omba emphasized that the agreement “is historic in many ways.” It ensures that AFCON 2025 will enter every household in the United Kingdom for the first time, he added.
The agreement also reaffirms AFCON’s status as one of the world’s major and most sought-after football events, Mosengo-Omba noted, expressing satisfaction with the successful partnership with Channel 4.
For his part, Channel 4’s Head of Sport Pete Andrews said that securing exclusive free-to-air rights to AFCON 2025 in the UK for the first time represents an exceptional opportunity for the network.
AFCON 2025, which will take place in Morocco from December 21, 2025 to January 18, 2026, will feature 24 national teams competing in 52 matches across nine stadiums in Morocco.
