The President of the Transitional National Assembly of the Republic of Gabon, Jean-François Ndongou, hailed on Tuesday in Rabat, Morocco's "consistent" commitment to the development of Moroccan-Gabonese relations.

The Kingdom of Morocco remains steadfast in its commitment to the long-standing bilateral and fraternal relations with the Republic of Gabon, François Ndongou stated in a press declaration following his discussions with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Residing Abroad, Nasser Bourita.

Referring to cooperation on central issues, both economically and militarily, he indicated that 7,000 of his compatriots reside in Morocco, particularly within the framework of academic and military training programs.

In this regard, the Gabonese official expressed gratitude towards Morocco for all its benevolent attentions towards Gabon, ensuring that his country "remains steadfast in the nature, quality, and depth of the relations it maintains with the Kingdom."

Mr. Ndongou, who is on a working visit to Morocco leading a delegation of members of the Gabonese Transitional National Assembly, also reiterated Gabon's "consistent" support for Morocco's sovereignty over its Sahara.

"I want to remind that Gabon participated in the Green March (1975), we were already there, we stood beside Morocco and we remain steadfast in the context of the important issue of the Moroccan Sahara. Regardless of the regimes and individuals, it is Gabon that stands by Morocco on this issue," affirmed the President of the Transitional National Assembly of Gabon.
