Following the decision by the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU), Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares emphasizes the strategic importance of cooperation with Morocco for both Spain and the rest of Europe.

Shortly after the CJEU ruling regarding the agricultural and fisheries agreements between the EU and Morocco, the Spanish foreign minister defended the "strategic partnership" with the Kingdom, which he described as significant for both Morocco and the EU.

Speaking before the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Spanish Congress (lower house), José Manuel Albares reiterated his country's commitment to maintaining its cooperation with its immediate southern neighbor. In the same vein, the Spanish foreign minister affirmed that the Spanish government will continue to "work with the European Union and Morocco to preserve and further develop this privileged relationship."

"Our position remains as it was on April 7. The Hispano-Moroccan declaration is well known, and more and more European countries and other parts of the world are aligning with it. Just a few days ago, it was Denmark. You are also aware of Emmanuel Macron’s letter from a few months ago, which is similar to Spain’s declaration and whose terms are very close. This is where Spain stands, and we will continue to hold this position," he concluded.
