In praising "the crucial voice" of HM King Mohammed VI for peace, the United States reaffirmed on Tuesday its support for the Moroccan autonomy initiative as a "serious, credible, and realistic" solution for the definitive resolution of the Moroccan Sahara issue.

The United States appreciates "the crucial voice" of His Majesty King Mohammed VI in "promoting a more peaceful and secure Middle East region," stated the spokesperson of the U.S. Department of State, echoing the words of an official statement released following the meeting in Washington between U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita.

"This role is reflected in Morocco's leadership in addressing humanitarian needs in Gaza, supporting stability in the West Bank, and contributing to the revitalization of the Palestinian Authority," reads the same statement.

"The United States continues to consider Morocco's autonomy plan as serious, credible, and realistic," the spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State also noted in a statement issued following the meeting held on Tuesday in Washington between Minister Nasser Bourita and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

With this stance, the U.S. administration maintains its position, officially established by the United States, regarding the Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara. To recall, the Americans continue to support the autonomy plan under Moroccan sovereignty.

During the talks between Blinken and Bourita, the United States and Morocco also expressed their "support" for the personal envoy of the UN Secretary-General, Staffan de Mistura, in leading the political process regarding the Sahara, under the auspices of the United Nations, to reach a "timely" and lasting political solution.

Additionally, the U.S. Secretary of State commended "Morocco's continued efforts to resolve the political deadlock in Libya and address instability in the Sahel," the statement specifies.

In a press statement given shortly before his talks with Bourita, Blinken emphasized that "the United States places great importance" on its partnership with Morocco "particularly for stability in the Middle East, as well as in Africa and North Africa."

"Morocco is a key partner of the United States," the U.S. Secretary of State emphasized.
