On Sunday, October 29, in New York, Nasser Bourita, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Abroad, held discussions with Staffan De Mistura, the UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy for the Moroccan Sahara, at De Mistura's request. Here's the message reiterated by Morocco on this occasion.

On the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs met with Staffan De Mistura, according to a statement from Morocco's Permanent Mission to the UN. The meeting highlighted the current international momentum driven by His Majesty King Mohammed VI in support of the Kingdom's sovereignty over its Sahara, with many countries backing the Moroccan Autonomy Initiative.

During this meeting, the Moroccan delegation, including Omar Hilale, Morocco’s Permanent Representative to the UN, reaffirmed Morocco’s four key principles regarding the Moroccan Sahara, as defined by His Majesty the King:

Support for the efforts of the UN Secretary-General and his Personal Envoy to achieve a realistic, pragmatic, and lasting political solution based on compromise.

Autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty as the only solution to the regional dispute.

The roundtable format, with the participation of all parties, particularly Algeria, as the sole framework for the process, in line with UN Security Council Resolution 2703 of October 30, 2023.

Strict respect for the ceasefire by all other parties as a prerequisite for continuing the political process.

De Mistura is also expected to hold talks with other parties in New York, the statement noted.
