Abdellatif Hammouchi undertook a working visit to France from June 26 to 28, following an official invitation from French security service officials. The Director General of the DGSN-DGST was awarded the Medal of Honor of the French National Police on this occasion.

The General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance-General Directorate of National Security (DGST-DGSN) announced in a press release on Friday, June 28, that its Director General, Abdellatif Hammouchi, undertook a working visit from June 26 to 28. According to the same source, this visit followed an official invitation from French security service officials.

It was also stated that during this visit, Hammouchi met his counterparts from the National Police, Internal Security, and External Security in France. The mechanisms for strengthening bilateral cooperation in various areas of common security interest were at the center of the discussions, the same source emphasized.

Furthermore, the DGST-DGSN added in its communiqué that during this visit, Abdellatif Hammouchi held a series of meetings and discussions with Céline Berthon, Director General of Internal Security, and Nicolas Lerner, Director General of External Security in France. These discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in the fight against terrorism and organized crime, as well as improving the levels of coordination and exchange of intelligence and operational information concerning various threats from extremist organizations and transnational criminal networks, the communiqué specified. It was also learned that Abdellatif Hammouchi was accompanied during these bilateral discussions on intelligence aspects by a significant delegation representing the DGST.

As part of this visit, Hammouchi also met Frédéric Veaux, Director General of the French National Police. The two senior officials held intensive discussions in the presence of a significant delegation from the DGSN, where they examined advanced cooperation and coordination mechanisms between the two parties in various areas of security, particularly proactive risk assessment mechanisms and information exchange in the context of joint work to secure the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

High Distinction

In recognition of the exceptional cooperation between Morocco and France in various areas of security, Abdellatif Hammouchi was awarded the Gold Medal of Honor of the French National Police in an exceptional manner, in recognition of his efforts to consolidate and develop joint security cooperation, stated the DGST-DGSN communiqué.

This visit also allowed the French and Moroccan parties, according to the same source, to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in various areas of combating transnational crime, notably drug trafficking and psychotropic substances, illegal immigration networks, and human trafficking, as well as practical mechanisms for cooperation in implementing joint security operations and measures.

This visit highlights the importance of strengthening bilateral security cooperation between Morocco and France, which share many bilateral work and coordination programs and face common security challenges, added the communiqué. It was also emphasized that this visit is part of the commitment of the DGSN and DGST of the Kingdom of Morocco within the international security cooperation system, to ensure effective contribution to neutralizing terrorist and criminal threats at regional and international levels.
