GITEX AFRICA Morocco is fully booked with exhibitors. Visitors will have an overwhelming array of options, making it challenging to see everything in just two days. However, beyond the quantity, the quality will be there as well.

For its second edition, taking place from May 29 to 31, 2024, in Marrakech, Gitex Africa Morocco 2024 is witnessing a spectacular expansion. The event has nearly doubled in size compared to its inaugural edition, with 21 halls set to host over 1,400 international exhibiting companies, marking a 70% increase. "This growth reflects the increasing interest in the African tech market and Gitex's commitment to promoting innovation on the continent," explains Trixie LohMirmand, CEO of KAOUN International, the event organizer.

Another indicator of Gitex Africa's success even before it begins is North Star Africa, the platform dedicated to startups. It will showcase more than 700 of the world's most innovative startups from 45 countries, including 200 Moroccan ones. The goal is to "boost investment in a dynamic startup ecosystem, with projections of raising $10 billion in venture capital by 2025," details the tireless LohMirmand.

On the eve of Gitex Africa Morocco 2024, this driving force of the event met with investors (mostly American) who gathered on May 27 and 28 in Marrakech, at the initiative of the U.S. Embassy in Rabat and Prosper Africa. She made a clear call to them: "Believe in Africa as GITEX does." Her audience will be part of the large crowd at the event, which is set to welcome around 350 international investors with the aim of "building a bridge between African innovators and global markets."

Artificial Intelligence in the Spotlight

Artificial intelligence will be at the heart of Gitex Africa 2024, with discussions focusing on its potential to transform the African economy. According to Trixie LohMirmand, the rise of this algorithmic revolution could channel $1.2 trillion into the African economy by 2030, increasing the continent's GDP by 5.6%. "The capabilities of AI to revolutionize various sectors are fascinating, but they require close collaboration with government policymakers to ensure responsible and ethical AI," she emphasized during an interview with L’Observateur du Maroc at the official presentation of the event in Rabat.

"For AI to thrive in Africa, it is crucial to invest in infrastructure, particularly in computing power. Without these investments, the African ecosystem cannot progress. Access to funding, especially through venture capital, is also essential to support this technological growth," she noted.

An Evolving Ecosystem

Africa, with its young and dynamic population, has a vast pool of talent. "However, these young innovators need to connect with the rest of the world, access funding, technology, and knowledge to fully integrate into the global entrepreneurial ecosystem," explains Trixie LohMirmand. Gitex Africa plays a crucial role in offering opportunities for global connection and cooperation. The event allows young innovators to interact with experts, investors, and government officials to develop their products and advance the necessary regulations for their success. "This connectivity is essential to ensure Africa is not left behind in the global digital transformation," insists LohMirmand.

By providing a platform for innovation and collaboration, Gitex Africa 2024 establishes itself as a key catalyst for digital transformation in Africa. This event confirms its position as a new breeding ground for world-class talent.
