Newly invested, Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno also appointed Allamaye Halina as Prime Minister, according to a presidential decree read on Thursday on public television.
Halina served as Director General of State Protocol under the late Idriss Déby Itno and his son Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno for 13 years. In January 2023, he was appointed as Chad's ambassador to China.
The inauguration of the new president took place in the presence of several heads of state and government, as well as representatives of international organizations, highlighting the importance of this moment for the future of Chad.
