The campaign for the presidency of Chad officially began on Sunday, April 14, with 10 candidates vying for the country’s highest office.

The first Chadian presidential election is scheduled for May 6th. This vote will end a three-year transitional period.

The presidential campaign will last three weeks and will culminate in the election of the president on May 6th, with a potential second round on June 22nd.

According to Ahmed Bartchiret, the president of Chad's National Agency for Election Management (ANGE), over the next 21 days, candidates will present their plans to the Chadian people. Activists and supporters are urged to remain tolerant during this campaign and avoid any actions that might disrupt public order.

The main contenders are Chad’s transitional president, Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno, and his prime minister, Succès Masra.

According to authorities, this presidential election is a crucial step towards restoring constitutional order in this Central African country.

The initial results of this election will be announced two weeks after the May 6th voting day. Final results will be published on June 5th. If a second round is necessary, the campaign will resume on June 6th.
