Senegalese Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko unveiled the list of his new government's members on Friday, comprising 25 ministers and 5 State Secretaries. The presidency's immediate directive to the new ministers is focused on systemic transformation.

"This governmental team aligns with our vision for Senegal. It represents a government that embodies the idea of systemic transformation," Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko stated before the announcement of the government's composition by the Secretary-General of the Presidency, Omar Samba Ba.

Sonko highlighted that "this is a government of coherence and rationalization in terms of ministries." "It is also a government that values proximity, innovation, and efficiency, solely dedicated to the paramount well-being of the Senegalese people," added the Senegalese prime minister.

The new government features high-ranking officers in key positions, such as the former Chief of the General Staff of the armies, General Birame Diop as the Minister of the Armed Forces, and the former high commander of the gendarmerie and director of military justice, Jean Baptiste Tine, as the Minister of the Interior.

Yacine Fall, a prominent figure in the political circle of the Head of State and the Prime Minister, will lead the Ministry of African Integration and Foreign Affairs. She is one of the four women in the government.

Well-known political figures are also making their entry into the government, such as Moustapha Guirassy, the campaign director for Bassirou Diomaye Faye during the presidential election, and Abdourakhmane Diouf as the Minister of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation.

Cheikh Tidiane Dièye, a presidential election candidate who withdrew in favor of the March 24 presidential election winner, has been appointed as the head of the Ministry of Hydraulics and Sanitation.

The Senegalese President, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, appointed Ousmane Sonko, the leader of the Pastef party, as Prime Minister last Tuesday, just hours after his inauguration.
