Among the 10 candidates declared eligible by the Constitutional Court, there are transitional president Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno as well as transitional Prime Minister Assyongar Masra Succès, and former Prime Minister Pahimi Padacké Albert.

Furthermore, the Constitutional Council declared ten other applications inadmissible for birth certificates not in compliance with the provisions governing civil status in Chad, absence of an act of release from the armed forces or other reasons.

The electoral campaign runs from April 14 to May 4, 2024 and Chadians will go to the polls on May 6 to choose their new president.

The election of the new President of the Republic notably marks the end of the political transition that began on April 20, 2021, after the death of Marshal Idriss Déby Itno.
