Among the 120 participants at "Miss World" this year, 28 were African. Won by Miss Czech Republic, Krystyna Pyszkova, this contest was marked by the meteoric rise of the representatives from Africa.

Three African Misses reached the top 12 of the "Miss World" final held on Saturday, March 9, in Mumbai. 

Firstly, there's Miss Botswana, Lesego Chombo, 24 years old, who won the title of Miss World Africa.

A graduate of the University of Botswana, Lesego is a lawyer at the High Court of Botswana. Miss Africa 2024 also launched "The Lesego Chombo Foundation" which supports underprivileged children in Botswana and offers programs focused on education and health.

Hannah Karema Tumukunde is another African representative who stood out. Miss Uganda finished first runner-up to Miss World Africa.

At 20 years old, Hannah is currently a student and aspires to become a journalist or TV host. She also leads several charitable activities to promote menstrual hygiene and fight against child marriage in different regions of her country.

Finally, Miss Mauritius, Liza Gundowry, 26 years old, holds a master's degree in African studies from the University of Oxford, where she works as a senior educational consultant.

With her project "Nou Later Nou Lafors," Liza aims to empower Mauritian women by helping them to grow their own food, thus fighting against food vulnerability.
