Angola has reaffirmed its position among the leading players in the global diamond industry. The country ranked as the world’s third-largest producer of natural rough diamonds in 2025, with an output of 15.2 million carats, according to a ranking based on the Kimberley Process’s 2025 annual report.
Published by the Indian business and financial magazine Outlook Business, the ranking places Angola behind Russia, which leads with 31.5 million carats, and Botswana, which holds second place with 15.5 million carats.
With production reaching 15.2 million carats, Angola ranks ahead of Canada, which recorded 14.1 million carats, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), with 8.9 million carats.
Angola’s Ministry of Planning views this result as confirmation of the growth and stability of the country’s diamond sector. This performance is reportedly driven by investment in new mining projects, improved transparency across the value chain and the sector’s appeal to foreign investors.
Building on this position, Angola aims to consolidate the strategic role of the diamond industry in its economic diversification policy and strengthen its presence in international markets.
