Morocco–Guinea-Bissau: A Partnership Supporting Africa’s Emergence

On June 29, 2026, in Rabat, Nasser Bourita held talks with Fatumata Jau, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Communities of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau.

In the joint statement issued following the meeting, Guinea-Bissau welcomed the initiatives launched by His Majesty King Mohammed VI in support of Africa’s emergence and development.

The two ministers reaffirmed their commitment to consolidating longstanding bilateral cooperation. They notably called for the continued implementation of the agreements concluded during the fourth Joint Cooperation Commission, held in Laâyoune on July 16, 2024.

Several priority sectors were identified, including vocational training, healthcare, telecommunications, agriculture, maritime fisheries, tourism, port management, mining, finance and institutional capacity-building.

Regarding the Moroccan Sahara, Fatumata Jau reiterated her country’s consistent and unwavering support for the Kingdom’s territorial integrity and sovereignty over its entire territory, including the Sahara region.

Through this meeting, Rabat and Bissau confirmed their determination to make their partnership an instrument of practical development and an example of African cooperation based on trust, solidarity and the sharing of expertise.
