On May 7, 2026, Nasser Bourita received Mulambo Haimbe, Zambia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in Rabat. The meeting focused on strengthening an African relationship that had steadily consolidated over time.

The two countries reaffirmed their determination to develop cooperation in several areas, in accordance with the guidance of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema. Their ambition was clear—to make the Morocco-Zambia partnership a model of intra-African cooperation based on solidarity, exchange and knowledge-sharing.

Zambia reiterated its firm support for the Kingdom’s territorial integrity and Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara.

This position was reinforced by Zambia’s diplomatic presence in Morocco, through an embassy in Rabat and a consulate general in Laâyoune.

Lusaka also welcomed the strategic initiatives launched by His Majesty the King in support of Africa. These projects notably sought to strengthen regional integration, improve the continent’s connectivity and facilitate access to the Atlantic Ocean for Sahel countries.

The meeting thus confirmed both political convergence and a shared ambition—to transform South-South cooperation into concrete projects serving Africa’s development.
