Nigeria's oil production reached its highest level in six years, averaging 1.56 million barrels per day in June, equivalent to 104% of the production quota set by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), according to the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).
According to the NUPRC, cited by local media, the increase was mainly driven by stable operations across most production sites and the absence of major disruptions to oil pipelines during the reporting period.
This marks Nigeria's highest crude oil production level since April 2020 and supports the government's ambition to raise national output to 2 million barrels per day.
Africa's largest oil producer has gradually restored production through stronger measures to combat oil theft and by deploying former militants, once involved in pipeline sabotage, to help secure the country's strategic oil infrastructure.
