Ethiopia has announced a series of urgent measures to address a fuel shortage caused by disruptions linked to the Middle East.
In an official statement, the Ethiopian Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration indicated that access to fuel will now be prioritized for certain categories of vehicles.
These include vehicles transporting essential goods, agricultural tractors contributing to the modernization of the farming sector, as well as public transport, all considered vital.
In addition, the authorities are urging the population to adopt more energy-efficient behaviors. Citizens are encouraged to limit fuel consumption, favor walking and public transportation, reduce non-essential travel, and turn to renewable energy sources.
These measures come amid growing pressure on energy supplies at the global level.
