The Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde, resigned, triggering the dissolution of his government, the presidency announced.

The Prime Minister submitted his resignation to President Félix Tshisekedi eight days after the validation of his mandate as a national deputy. He now joins the Parliament as a member of the Assembly.

"The resignation has been accepted. However, the president has asked Lukonde's government to continue managing current affairs until a new government is formed," the presidency also announced, without specifying the reasons for the resignation.

Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde was appointed Prime Minister of this Central African country in February 2021.
