Gabon and the United Arab Emirates have agreed to strengthen their bilateral cooperation with the signing on Saturday of three agreements in the mining, digital, and logistics sectors, according to a statement from the Gabonese presidency.
Signed on the occasion of the official visit of Gabonese President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema to the United Arab Emirates, these agreements aim to strengthen structuring partnerships focused on economic transformation, local value creation, and sustainable development, the statement said.
In the mining sector, the memorandum of understanding covers the exploration, development, and commercialization of gold mining activities in mineralized areas of Gabon. The statement added that the second agreement, relating to the digital sector, seeks to support the digital transformation of public administration and strategic state services through solutions based on artificial intelligence, advanced analytics, and big data.
In the areas of ports, transport, and logistics, the agreement between the two parties aims to enhance Gabon’s logistics performance, support its role as a regional hub, and facilitate its integration into international value chains.
The signing of these agreements is part of the ongoing exchanges between the presidents of the two countries, "illustrating the quality of bilateral relations and the shared commitment to developing mutually beneficial economic cooperation,” according to the Gabonese presidency.
