In Togo, 3,352 new businesses were created in the third quarter of 2025 — a quantitative surge worth noting.
According to data compiled by Togo First from statistics provided by the Business Formalities Center (CFE), this brings the total number of registered enterprises between January and September 2025 to 11,099.
This figure represents a slight decline compared to the same period in 2024, when 11,979 companies were created — a year-on-year decrease of about 7.3%. This downward trend comes after a period of sustained growth observed between 2021 and 2024.
In the first quarter of 2025, 4,262 companies were established, compared to 3,485 in the second quarter, confirming a gradual slowdown over the year. This decline is mainly due to a decrease in initiatives launched by Togolese nationals. Indeed, during the first half of 2025, 6,195 companies were created by Togolese entrepreneurs, compared to 6,615 during the same period in 2024 — a drop of around 7% year-on-year.
This slight decline occurs as authorities continue efforts to boost the entrepreneurial ecosystem. Ongoing reforms — including the reduction of business registration time and costs, the digitalization of administrative procedures, and the promotion of entrepreneurship through various incentive programs — are still being implemented to encourage the creation of formal economic activities in the country.
