Chef Zeinab Bancé, whose first attempt at the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon was invalidated, is gearing up for a new challenge starting on March 27, 2025.

The new challenge will be streamed live and monitored in real-time by the Guinness World Records team.

“We’re embarking on a new adventure, and I invite you all to join me on March 27, 2025, at the Parc des Sports in Treichville for the second round of the Guinness World Record attempt,” announced Zeinab Bancé during a press conference on Tuesday, March 11, 2025.

“The Guinness World Records team has decided to follow the record attempt via livestream, so they can validate it as soon as my countdown stops. This is a first because they don’t usually do this, and it’s a first for all of Africa,” she stated.

“I am a fighter, and as long as I have the strength, I will keep going. I have to reach 120 hours because that’s the record to beat. I previously cooked for 131 hours and 30 minutes… maybe we’ll stay here for a month,” the chef added.

On December 17, 2024, Zeinab Bancé officially committed to breaking the current Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon, held by Alan Fisher, who cooked for 119 hours and 57 minutes.

“Unfortunately, there were technical errors during the first attempt. The people in charge of filming got carried away and included the crowd in the footage. However, according to the rules, the camera had to focus solely on me,” she explained, as reported by the African Press Agency.

Over six days, Zeinab Bancé prepared 15,000 dishes in 131 hours and 30 minutes. This time, she aims to replicate the feat with improved recording setups to ensure every hour of cooking is validated.
