The President of the Transition, General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, officially announced his candidacy for the upcoming presidential election on April 12, during a statement made on Monday, March 2, at the Cité de la Démocratie.
"After careful consideration and in response to your numerous calls, I have decided to run for the presidential election on April 12, 2025," the President of the Transition solemnly declared before a crowd of Gabonese citizens who had gathered in support of him under heavy rain at the Cité de la Démocratie, according to the Gabonese Press Agency (AGP).
As the main contender in this electoral race, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema expressed his ambition for "a vision of a Gabon rising from its ashes." He also called for collective mobilization to rebuild the nation.
