Namibia will introduce an online visa application system on April 1 to enhance efficiency and convenience for travelers, announced Albert Kawana, the Minister of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety, and Security.

"The system aims to improve service delivery and convenience for our visitors, including businesspeople," Kawana stated. The new platform is expected to reduce congestion at entry points, facilitating access for tourists and investors.

The Namibian government has also revised its visa policy based on reciprocity, affecting travelers from 33 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Australia.

"Reciprocity means that if you require a visa from a Namibian citizen, we will also require a visa from your citizens," Kawana explained, reaffirming the country's commitment to welcoming visitors.

"This does not mean we are discouraging visitors. On the contrary, we want to make their entry easier."

Namibia is actively working to attract foreign investments in key sectors such as tourism, mining, and renewable energy to strengthen its economy.

The new visa system is part of broader initiatives across Africa to modernize immigration procedures and promote economic cooperation.
