MEDays: "Morocco, a Driving Force for South-South Unity Between Africa and the Caribbean" - Philip Joseph Pierre

During the 16th edition of the MEDays International Forum in Tangier, Philip Joseph Pierre discussed the positive impact of cooperation between Morocco and Caribbean nations, especially in the area of food security. “Morocco contributes to food security in the Caribbean by providing fertilizers to our countries, and we are grateful for it,” he said. This contribution highlights the significance of South-South exchanges in addressing global challenges, particularly the effects of climate change impacting both Africa and the Caribbean.

The Prime Minister stressed the necessity of strengthening South-South cooperation, particularly between Africa and the Caribbean. “We can share technology, knowledge, and engage in trade among ourselves, but we need robust transport links,” he said, underlining the importance of connectivity to facilitate exchanges. He stated that Africa and the Caribbean must develop transport infrastructure to support trade and knowledge-sharing.

The Prime Minister expressed his trust in Morocco's leadership role in creating bridges between regions. “The Kingdom of Morocco plays a central role in this regional unity dynamic,” he said, highlighting King Mohammed VI's commitment to building strategic links. He acknowledged Morocco’s efforts to promote South-South cooperation and solidarity, especially within Africa and the Caribbean.

Finally, the Prime Minister underscored the shared vision of Saint Lucia and Morocco to establish strong, sustainable ties between Africa and the Caribbean, not only for goods exchange but also for the sharing of knowledge and culture. “We are a nation with a rich history and heritage that has contributed to the world,” Philip Joseph Pierre concluded, expressing confidence in the promising future of South-South cooperation between Morocco and the Caribbean.
