African culture takes center stage in Morocco. Its ochre city hosts the 2nd edition of the Marrakech African Book Festival (FLAM) from February 8th to 11th.

The FLAM brings together this year over fifty writers, thinkers, and intellectuals from Africa, its diasporas, and descendants. This event aims to celebrate African literature and culture while fostering unity.

Over four days, this Festival aims to bridge culture and art, explains the festival president, Mahi Binebine.

The FLAM will be marked by the presence of numerous figures from African literature including José-Eduardo Agualusa (Angola), Leïla Bahsaïn (Morocco), Abdelkader Benali (Morocco), Souleymane Bachir Diagne (Senegal), Ali Benmakhlouf (Morocco), Sophie Bessis (Tunisia), Siham Bouhlal (Morocco), Boum Hemley (Cameroon), Yasmine Chami (Morocco), Touhfat Mouhtare (Comoros), Fanta Dramé (Mauritania), Wilfried N’Sondé (Republic of Congo), Saad Khiari (Algeria), and Mia Couto (Mozambique), among others.

This year's FLAM program includes literary cafes, interviews, book signings, as well as the opening to the public of a pop-up bookstore. Youth will also be well served with various dedicated educational activities. "Off-site" actions, in universities and schools, are planned for this purpose.

The festival evenings will be enlivened by musical performances, readings, and poetry.
