The first edition of "Fashion Week Abidjan" will take place from October 10 to 13.

Under the theme "New Future," this fashion event aims to bring together key players in the industry across West Africa to discuss strategic issues related to the sector.

It will also seek to raise awareness among public authorities and investors about the importance of promoting and supporting the fashion industry in African countries. The event intends to contribute to the development of a dynamic creative industry in Côte d'Ivoire, establish the "Born in Africa" label, and highlight local artisans.

"Beyond the fashion shows and the discovery of our creative talents, our goal is to boost the economy of the sector, but above all, to inspire a new vision. We will also open a discussion on supporting our craftsmanship, passing down sometimes ancestral knowledge, and preserving rare trades," said Elie Kuame, designer and founder of the event.

According to Georgette Griffit, co-founder of Fashion Week Abidjan, this edition is much more than just a fashion event. "It is a crossroads where talent, passion, and commitment meet to celebrate not only aesthetics but also the ideas, voices, and cultures shaping our industry," she stated, as quoted by local media.

For this inaugural edition, Olivia Yacé, former Miss Côte d'Ivoire, has been chosen as the ambassador.
