The Kongo River Festival takes place from July 22 to 25 in Ngabé, Republic of Congo, and from July 26 to 28 in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo.

The purpose of the Kongo River Festival is to rekindle the connection between the two neighboring countries that were once part of the Kingdom of Kongo.

Under the theme "Pool Malebo Between the Two Shores," the 2024 edition of this festive event takes its name from a lake located south of the Congo River that separates Kinshasa and Brazzaville. The program includes tourist circuits and celebrations centered around the art of the two countries, notably visual arts, gastronomy, and music.

This year, the protection of the Congo River, its biodiversity, and the recycling of waste along the riverbanks will be discussed as key topics of reflection.

The festival aims to promote sustainable tourism and highlight the rich cultural heritage of the region. Workshops on traditional crafts, storytelling sessions, and cultural exchange forums will also be held, allowing participants to immerse themselves in the diverse traditions and histories of both Congos. This celebration not only fosters cultural understanding and unity but also encourages environmental stewardship and sustainable development in the region.
