The tenth session of the African Regional Forum on Sustainable Development (ARFSD-10) will be held in a hybrid format from April 23 to 25 in Addis Ababa, announced the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), based in the Ethiopian capital.

Jointly organized by the ECA in collaboration with the African Union Commission, the African Development Bank, and United Nations system organizations, this tenth session is themed: "Strengthening the Sustainable Development Agenda towards 2030 and the Agenda 2063 and eradicating poverty in times of multiple crises: the effective implementation of sustainable, resilient, and innovative solutions."

The Forum will bring together high-level policymakers, experts from ministries and agencies responsible for finance and economic development, social affairs, environment and natural resource management, statistics, agriculture and food security, science, technology, and innovation, as well as other ministries from the 54 member countries of the ECA.

"In 2024, member states and their partners are halfway through the implementation of the 2030 Agenda, but progress on most of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is lagging: 'progress on most of the SDGs is advancing far too slowly or has regressed below the 2015 baseline level,'" emphasizes the ECA, noting that achieving the SDGs by 2030 depends on accelerating implementation through ambitious and bold solutions and actions.

For Africa, the integrated implementation of the SDGs and Agenda 2063 is essential, and actions and solutions to achieve both are necessary, it is indicated.
