Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has hailed the achievement of filmmakers Damilola Osikoya of Switch Visual Production and Nora Awolowo of Rixel Studios, who have set a new Guinness World Record.
According to presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, the two filmmakers set the record in Lagos on Saturday for the highest attendance at a film screening with their production, Black Market.
The Nigerian president congratulated the filmmakers on their achievement, praising their creativity, entrepreneurial spirit and ambition. He said the milestone once again highlights the potential of Nigeria’s creative industry.
Tinubu also emphasized the creative economy’s contribution to business and job creation in Nigeria, as well as its ability to open new markets for the country’s talent.
According to the president, film, music, fashion and the arts also play an important role in promoting Nigerian culture and stories to international audiences.
Tinubu said the success of Black Market demonstrates what Nigerian creators can achieve when talent is combined with entrepreneurship and the ability to scale their projects.
The president also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to expanding opportunities for young Nigerians to turn their talents into sources of income and build businesses capable of competing in international markets.
He concluded by congratulating everyone involved in the production of Black Market and wished the team further success.
