Twenty years after his debut, Fally Ipupa marks a major turning point in his career with an ambitious project: a double album designed to reflect all facets of his musical universe.

The first part, titled “XX” and released on April 17, takes a distinctly urban direction. The artist collaborates with major figures such as Angélique Kidjo, Joé Dwèt Filé, SDM, and Guy2Bezbar. This artistic choice reflects a deliberate move away from traditional rumba in favor of a more contemporary sound, blending afropop with urban influences.

Comprising 20 tracks, “XX” echoes the two decades of his career that began in 2006 with the album “Droit Chemin.”The project serves as a showcase of his international journey and his ability to reinvent himself. On tracks like “Doucement,” a duet with Joé Dwèt Filé, Fally Ipupa even explores zouk influences, confirming his musical versatility.

Despite this evolution, the artist remains true to his roots, continuing to highlight guitar, Lingala, and the essence of Congolese music. An identity he will also defend on stage during his highly anticipated concerts on May 2 and 3, 2026, at the Stade de France.

But the project does not stop there. A second album, “XX Delirium,” is scheduled for release on June 10. In contrast to the first, this installment will be entirely dedicated to Congolese rumba. Featuring 21 tracks, it promises a return to his roots, aimed at appealing to purists and reconnecting with the artist’s musical DNA.

Through this diptych, Fally Ipupa reaffirms his status as a leading figure on the African music scene, capable of navigating between modernity and tradition without ever losing his identity.
