Côte d'Ivoire aims to reach a new economic milestone by 2030. Through its 2026–2030 National Development Plan (NDP), the Ivorian government is targeting average annual growth of 7.2% and intends to turn this momentum into large-scale job creation.
The objective is to increase the number of employed people from 11.5 million to 14 million, while more than doubling the number of formal jobs, which are expected to rise from over 1.5 million to more than 3 million by 2030.
According to Minister of Planning and Development Souleymane Diarrassouba, quoted by the Ivorian press, the new strategic framework is designed to deliver "sustainable, inclusive, environmentally friendly, and job-creating growth," with particular attention given to young people and women.
The government is also aiming for a significant improvement in social and economic indicators. GDP per capita is expected to increase from $3,148.2 to $4,500, representing a 43% increase, while the poverty rate is projected to decline from 37.5% to below 20%.
The 2026–2030 National Development Plan also includes progress in human capital, notably through higher life expectancy, lower infant mortality, and stronger public revenues, with the goal of increasing the tax-to-GDP ratio from 15.4% to 18%.
Through this roadmap, Abidjan aims to strengthen its position as a regional economic powerhouse and make economic growth a true driver of social inclusion.
