As the 2026 FIFA World Cup continues across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, FIFA President Gianni Infantino has confirmed that U.S. President Donald Trump will attend the tournament's final on July 19.
Speaking to the American television network FOX, the head of world football announced that President Trump will take part in the closing ceremony and join him in presenting the World Cup trophy to the newly crowned champions.
"We will be together with the President to watch the final and, of course, present the trophy to the winners. We will be together the whole time,” Gianni Infantino said.
Since the tournament kicked off on June 11, the FIFA President has been traveling extensively between Canada, the United States, and Mexico to oversee the competition. Donald Trump's confirmed attendance at the final underscores the importance the U.S. authorities are placing on the global event, which is being hosted jointly by three countries for the first time in FIFA World Cup history.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup final is therefore expected to be not only a major sporting spectacle but also an event of considerable symbolic and political significance.
