Côte d’Ivoire has renewed its unequivocal support for Morocco’s sovereignty over all its territory, including the Moroccan Sahara.

This position was formalized in a joint communiqué issued following talks held Thursday in Rabat between Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, and his Ivorian counterpart, Nialé Kaba, who is on a working visit to the Kingdom.

Abidjan also welcomed the adoption, on October 31, 2025, of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2797, considered a major step forward. The resolution endorses the autonomy plan proposed by Morocco as the only serious, credible, and lasting framework for achieving a political solution to the Sahara dispute, while fully respecting Moroccan sovereignty.

For his part, Nasser Bourita expressed the Kingdom’s gratitude to Côte d’Ivoire for its constant support. He recalled that the opening of the Ivorian Consulate General in Laâyoune in February 2020 remains a strong symbol of the deep strategic and brotherly relations between Rabat and Abidjan.
