During an official visit to Morocco, Zambia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mulambo Haimbe, on Thursday praised the major African initiatives led by King Mohammed VI in support of the continent’s development and integration.

The Zambian foreign minister particularly highlighted the Atlantic African States Initiative as well as the Royal Initiative for the Sahel, describing them as strategic projects capable of strengthening regional connectivity and facilitating Sahel countries’ access to the Atlantic Ocean.

These remarks were made in Rabat following talks with Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, as part of a working visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.

In a joint statement, the two officials also commended the South-South cooperation dynamic promoted by the Kingdom of Morocco, emphasizing its strategic role in reinforcing African solidarity and promoting sustainable and shared development.

The two ministers also reaffirmed their commitment to intensifying coordination within regional and international organizations in order to give new momentum to African cooperation and defend the continent’s interests.
