President Macky Sall has stated that he intends to leave office at the end of his term on April 2nd.
"I plan to step down from my role as President of the Republic on April 2nd," Macky Sall affirmed in an interview with media outlets in his country.
At the same time, the Senegalese President emphasized that the dialogue he has called for should determine what will happen next, stating that the country cannot remain without a president.
"The dialogue will have to resolve and make a proposal. If a consensus can be reached afterward, that is desirable. I hope that the stakeholders who need to come together around me will consider the best interests of the nation," he explained, promising to listen to what the dialogue will say.
"It will be up to the Constitutional Council to determine what needs to be done, and everyone will have to agree to it," the outgoing President concluded.
