The Rwandan government has announced the launch of Innovate Rwanda, a national digital platform designed to structure and connect the country’s entire innovation ecosystem.

This tool aims to bring together startups, investors, incubators, and public institutions in order to improve coordination within a technology sector that has become a key driver of national growth strategy in East Africa.

Developed by the Ministry of ICT and Innovation (Rwanda), the platform is intended to serve as a one-stop hub, providing access to funding programs, support mechanisms, and resources available to entrepreneurs. During the launch ceremony, Minister of ICT and Innovation Paula Ingabire highlighted the ambition to create an environment conducive to innovation, enabling project leaders to more easily find partners, funding, and the tools needed to turn their ideas into concrete solutions.

The launch of Innovate Rwanda comes amid sustained growth in the country’s tech ecosystem. Rwanda currently has more than 76 active startups, according to estimates from innovation stakeholders and platforms tracking startups in East Africa. Several incubators and tech hubs are also established in the country, often supported by partnerships between public and private actors.

According to the Global Startup Ecosystem Index 2025 published by StartupBlink, Rwanda now ranks 96th worldwide, gaining two places compared to the previous year. At the East African level, the country consolidates its third position, ranking behind Uganda and ahead of Somalia.
