The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced that the draw for the final phase of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, to be hosted by Morocco, will take place on Thursday, January 15, in Rabat. On the same day, CAF will also unveil the remaining winners of the 2025 CAF Awards in the women’s categories.
"Scheduled for 2:00 p.m. local time (1:00 p.m. GMT, 3:00 p.m. in Cairo), this draw will mark a turning point in the history of the competition. For the first time, the Women’s AFCON will feature 16 teams, compared to 12 in previous editions, reflecting the continued growth of women’s football on the continent,” CAF said on its official website.
As the host nation, Morocco will be joined by 15 qualified teams: Algeria, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mali, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, and Zambia. This strong lineup brings together traditional powerhouses and rapidly emerging national teams.
Ahead of the draw, CAF will also announce the winners of three major categories of the 2025 CAF Women’s Awards: Coach of the Year, Women’s Interclub Player of the Year, and Women’s Club of the Year.
Originally scheduled to be revealed during the 2025 CAF Awards ceremony, these prizes were postponed because the season had not yet concluded, particularly the CAF Women’s Champions League.
